About Dr Varnava
Dr Varnava is a leading consultant cardiologist with over 25 years of top level cardiology experience, providing expert assessment and treatment for adults, young people and teenagers. She is one of the UK’s foremost experts in cardiomyopathies, Brugada syndrome, and all other inherited cardiac conditions. She has a particular interest in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy and inherited arrhythmias such as Brugada syndrome.
She is the Clinical Director of both Cardiology and Cardiothoracic surgical services at Imperial College NHS Trust, having served as the head of cardiology services at Imperial from 2020 until 2025. She is also visiting cardiologist at West Herts Hospital Trusts.
Dr Varnava has been an FA expert cardiologist for over 15 years and has been the cardiologist for several premiership football clubs including Arsenal (Men’s and Women’s teams), Watford, Liverpool, Manchester United, Oxford United and Chelsea women’s.
Dr Varnava offers private cardiology services in London and Hertfordshire. Dr Varnava was awarded a National Health Service Clinical Excellence Award in 2007, 2011 and 2015.
As well as general cardiology, she sees adults and children (13 yo and above) with symptoms of fainting/syncope, heart disease in pregnancy and is a leading private sports cardiologist. Services also include pre-participation sports screens and family screening for inherited cardiac conditions.
Her approach is centred on providing clear explanations, compassionate care and access to the most appropriate investigations and the latest treatments. She works closely with patients, families and referring doctors to ensure that each person receives individualised, evidence-based care.
Based in Harleys Street and Welbeck Street in central London she sees patients from across the UK and internationally, both in person and by remote consultations.
